As you know I received a grant from the Educational Trust in 2012 which covered half the fee for my Mountain Leader (Summer) assessment. At the time, I was a junior medical student working night shifts around my studies in order to cover placement and accommodation expenses - I would not have been able to take the assessment without the Trust’s support.
Since then, I have reinvested the award many times over, having volunteered over 300 days as a Mountain Leader for groups of young people working through the Army Cadet Force, University of Nottingham Students’ Union, and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. I have taught and led groups in Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons, Dartmoor, the Peak District, the Lake District, Cairngorms, and the Highlands.
My thanks once again to the Trust for supporting me in this endeavour.
